De La Massana al Collado del Estall por el Camino del Solà

A circular excursion around the sierra del Solà, between the parishes of la Massana and Encamp, in the Principality of Andorra.

We will depart from la Massana itself, climbing up the "les Gravades" path until we reach the Solà trail, from here we simply need to follow the route that leads us directly to the Estall pass. The views are beautiful and the air is crisp and clean. Along the route you will find pastures where there may be horses and cows. If your dog is not used to them, when you pass nearby keep him on a long leash so he can move freely without disturbing the peace of the mountains. From here begins the descent through the Umbría de la Gonarda, a spectacular black pine forest until you arrive again at the village of la Aldosa and from there to la Massana via the "les Molleres" path.

It is a circular route, marked in yellow.

The duration is approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes — about 2 hours uphill and just over 1 hour downhill. The elevation gain is its main difficulty, about 800 m. Even so, it is a route suitable for any family accustomed to hiking in the countryside.

A CURIOUS FACT...

The Principality of Andorra is divided into seven parishes, each made up of several towns. Each one is divided into quarters which in la Massana are Mitger, Pal, Sispony, Arinsal, Anyós, Erts, la Massana and la Aldosa de la Massana. These divisions have been maintained since medieval times, and are very present throughout the architectural geography of the territory.
