4 km touring the mining legacy that shaped Andorra for three centuries. Iron sculptures, the visitable Llorts mine and the Romanesque church of Sant Martí de la Cortinada at the end of the path.

La Ruta

Andorra was an iron powerhouse for centuries. From the 17th to the 19th century, the forges and mines of Ordino supplied metal to much of the Pyrenees. The Iron Route traces this legacy across 4 kilometers of easy walking between Llorts and la Cortinada, with the river accompanying you almost the entire way.

The route combines nature, history and art: contemporary iron sculptures installed along the path, the Llorts mine—accessible and 30 meters deep—and the Romanesque church of Sant Martí de la Cortinada with its decorative ironwork. The architecture of the stone *bordas* (traditional stone buildings) in the surrounding landscape completes a setting that needs little else.

Easy for any level: gentle elevation gain, well-maintained and clearly marked trail. The route is linear—you'll need to return the way you came or combine it with transport back to the starting point. Dog-friendly with no complications.
